Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how SCIGOLD ("we", "our", "us"), operated by Scigold Technology Co., Ltd., collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit scigoldpower.com or purchase our products. We believe in plain language — below, you'll find what we collect, why we collect it, and what control you have.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Contact details — name, email, shipping address, and phone number when you place an order or subscribe to our newsletter.
• Payment details — handled directly by Shopify Payments and Stripe. We never see or store your full credit card number.
• Customer account — if you sign in to a customer account on our Shopify store (shop.scigoldpower.com), we collect your email address and keep your order history in that account.
• Communication preferences — whether you have signed up for marketing emails.

Information collected automatically

• Device & browser — IP address (and the approximate location, such as country or region, that it indicates), browser type, operating system, screen resolution.
• Behavior — pages visited, time on page, referrer source, items viewed/added to cart. Used to improve the site experience and detect fraud. On our Shopify store and checkout (shop.scigoldpower.com), Shopify also uses this data for the advertising described in sections 2 and 3.
• Cookies — see our Cookie Policy for the full list.

We do not collect: biometric data, government IDs, social security numbers, precise GPS location, or any sensitive special-category data as defined under GDPR Article 9.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Fulfill orders — process payment, ship products, send order confirmations and tracking.
• Customer support — answer questions, resolve issues, process returns and warranty claims.
• Marketing emails — only if you've explicitly opted in (newsletter signup, marketing consent at checkout). You can unsubscribe at any time with one click.
• Checkout reminders — if you start a checkout and do not finish it, we may email you a reminder about it.
• Site improvement — aggregate analytics to understand which products and articles resonate. We do not build advertising profiles ourselves.
• Advertising — we use Shopify to support personalized advertising with third-party services based on your online activity with different merchants and websites (see section 3). You can opt out on our opt-out page.
• Legal compliance — tax reporting, fraud prevention, responding to lawful government requests.

3. How We Share Your Information

We share personal information with the following. Our service providers are bound by contract. The Shopify advertising sharing described below may count as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under some US state privacy laws, and you can opt out of it on our opt-out page, linked as "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" in the footer of every page on scigoldpower.com.

• Shopify Inc. — our store, checkout and email-list platform: order processing, payment handling, checkout, and newsletter sign-ups (signing up on scigoldpower.com creates a customer record in Shopify). Through Shopify Network Intelligence, Shopify uses the customer data we hold in Shopify with other Shopify data to improve products, ad targeting and personalization; no other merchant can see your data. Under some US state privacy laws this can count as a "sale", "sharing" or "targeted advertising". You can opt out on our opt-out page. Shopify Privacy Policy
• Stripe — payment processor. Stripe Privacy Policy
• Cloudflare — site hosting and DDoS protection. Cloudflare also adds its Web Analytics script to our pages, which measures page views and page-load speed in aggregate (no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no individual visitor profiles). Our email sign-up forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots: when you start filling in a sign-up form, your browser runs a short check with Cloudflare that looks at technical signals such as your browser, device and IP address. Most visitors see nothing; a few are asked to tick a box. We use the result only to accept or refuse that sign-up.
• Ahrefs — cookieless, privacy-friendly web analytics (aggregate statistics only, such as page views, referrers, visit duration, country and device type; no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no individual visitor profiles).
• Shipping carriers — USPS and UPS for delivery. They receive your name, shipping address and, where the carrier requires it, phone number.
• Lawful authorities — only when legally compelled (court order, subpoena).

4. Your Rights

Regardless of where you live, you have the following rights:

• Access — request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
• Correction — fix inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Deletion — request erasure ("right to be forgotten"), subject to legal record-keeping obligations (e.g., tax records).
• Portability — receive your data in machine-readable format.
• Opt-out — unsubscribe from marketing emails with the link in any of them, ask us by email to restrict processing, or opt out of the advertising sharing described in section 3 on our opt-out page.
• Object — to specific uses such as profiling or automated decision-making.
• Lodge a complaint — with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@scigoldpower.com. We will respond within 30 days (GDPR) or 45 days (CCPA).

California residents additionally have the right to know what categories of personal information have been collected and disclosed for business purposes in the past 12 months, and the right to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information. To opt out of the sharing described in section 3, use our opt-out page. On that page you can also enter your email address to opt out the customer account linked to it. If you visit our Shopify store or checkout (shop.scigoldpower.com) with Global Privacy Control turned on, then, depending on where you are, Shopify treats it as a request to opt out of that sharing for the device and browser you used.

California: categories in the past 12 months

• Collected — identifiers (name, email address, shipping address, phone number, IP address and cookie identifiers); commercial information (orders and cart activity); internet activity (device and browser details, pages viewed, referrer, and interactions with our site, store and checkout); approximate location derived from your IP address; and preferences (communication preferences).
• Sold or shared for cross-context behavioral advertising — through Shopify Network Intelligence (see section 3). Shopify decides which store data it uses, so this may include identifiers such as email address, IP address and cookie identifiers; commercial information such as purchases and cart activity on our Shopify store; and internet activity on our Shopify store and checkout.
• Disclosed for business purposes — the categories above, to the service providers listed in section 3, for the purposes stated there. For example, shipping carriers receive your name, shipping address and, where required, phone number.
• Under 16 — we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.
• Sensitive personal information — we do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by California law. Payment card data is handled by Shopify and Stripe, not by us.

5. Data Retention

• Order records — retained 7 years for tax compliance, then deleted.
• Newsletter subscribers — kept while you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep your email address and its unsubscribed status in Shopify so we don't email you again; email info@scigoldpower.com to have the record deleted.
• Analytics — our own site analytics (Ahrefs and Cloudflare Web Analytics) are cookieless and keep only aggregate, non-identifying metrics. Shopify's analytics on our store and checkout (shop.scigoldpower.com), including the cookies listed in our Cookie Policy, are kept under Shopify's own retention practices.
• Support tickets — 3 years from last interaction.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard safeguards: TLS encryption in transit (256-bit SSL), encryption at rest for payment and account data, access controls and audit logs for our internal systems, and PCI-DSS Level 1 compliance via Shopify and Stripe for all payment handling. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we work to reduce risk to a minimum.

7. International Transfers

SCIGOLD is operated by Scigold Technology Co., Ltd., a Hong Kong company. We run the business from Hong Kong and mainland China, and US orders ship from a warehouse in Plainfield, Illinois. Your personal information may be processed outside your country, including in Hong Kong, mainland China, the United States and wherever the service providers listed in section 3 operate. If you're in the EU/UK, your personal data may be transferred outside the EEA. We rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and other appropriate safeguards for any such transfer.

8. Children's Privacy

SCIGOLD products are sold to adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (United States) or under 16 (EU). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact info@scigoldpower.com and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date and, where required by law, emailed to you.
